The ENS Buea Competitive Entrance Examination shall be organised in one sitting to Cameroonians of both sexes, and holders of GCE A/L, in at least two (02) subjects and of GCE O/L in at least four (04) subjects (excluding Religious Knowledge); Baccalauréat and Probatoire, all in the major subjects of the Option solicited for.
Foreign candidates may be authorized to sit for the examination under the same academic conditions, depending on the number of places available and in conformity with the regulations in force.

ENS Buea Entrance Examination First year First Cycle 2026-2027
Candidates must be 29 years old on 1″ January 2026. The written examination will take place on Saturday, 14 March 2026, in the following Examination Centres: Buca, Bamenda, Douala and Yaoundé.
Complete files should be submitted to the Regional Delegations of MINESEC where the candidate has choosen to write the examination by Friday, 13 February 2026 or to HTTC, University of Buea (Admissions and Records Office) by Friday, 13 February 2026.
The ENS Buea examination shall comprise:
- Study of the candidate’s academic profile shall account for 25% of the total assessment.
- Two written papers, which shall account for 75% of the total assessment.
The study of the candidate’s academic profile shall take into consideration:
- The grade obtained in the GCE O/L and A/L, or Probatoire and Baccalaureat.
- The number of years spent in the Secondary School.
- The candidate’s age.
Entry Certificates for ENS Buea
Candidate must pass in the GCE A/L or the Baccalauréat to be qualified to register for the Competitive Entrance Examination in a given option:
- Fundamentals Sciences – GCE A/L in Sciences/the Baccalauréat Scientifique.
- Arts, Languages and Literatures – GCE A/L in Arts/ Baccalauréat Littéraire.
- Social Sciences and Humanities – All GCE A/L / Baccalauréat.
Al Candidates for the Arts, Languages and Literature Options, integrating National languages and cultures, are to be holders of GCE A/L in at least two (02) subjects, including “French” or “English” and of GCE O/L in at least four (04) subjects obtained in one sitting and excluding “Religious Knowledge.”
List of application files needed for ENS Buea First Year
The candidate’s application file shall comprise the following documents, which shall not be withdrawn once the candidate has submitted them to HTTC Buea:
- A Registration Form available at the Higher Teacher Training College (HTTC) – University of Buea, Regional Delegations of MINESEC, on the MINESUP website: www.minesup.gov.cm or the website of the University of Buea at: www.ubuea.cm.
- A certified true copy of the birth certificate dated not more than three (03) months.
- A certified true copy of GCE O/L certificate (or results slip), or Probatoire certificate (or relevé de notes) dated not more than three (03) months.
- All applications must be submitted online, following the procedure outlined on the University of Buea online platform. The candidate should therefore visit the University of Buea’s website at www.ubuea.cm and proceed to the “Admission” tab, or access it directly at www.ubstudents.online/admission.
- A medical certificate issued by a state medical officer testifying to the candidate’s physical condition and fitness to teach.
- A certificate of non-conviction dated not more than three (03) months.
- A certified true copy of GCE A/L certificate (or results slip Attestation), or Baccalauréat certificate (or relevé de notes ou une photocopie certifiée conforme de l’Attestation de réussite) or any certificate recognised by the Ministry of Higher Education or any equivalent diploma dated not more than three (03) months.
- NB: Holders of GCE A/L or Baccalauréat in the 2025/2026 academic year shall be authorised to compete in await of their certificates. However, the final admission of such candidates shall be confirmed only upon presentation of their certificates, within a deadline to be determined by the competent authorities.
- A Stamped franked) A4 envelope at the regulated price with the candidate’s address.
- A receipt upon payment of twenty thousand (20,000) FCFA as examination registration fee payable through the online platform at www.ubuea.cm or www.ubstudents.online/admission using mobile money. No other form of payment shall be accepted.
- Two passport-size photographs.
- An Autorisation of the Minister of Basic Education and of the Minister of Secondary Education or the Minister of Higher Education, as per the case of civil servants in these ministries.
Holders of foreign diplomas/certificates
Holders of foreign diplomas/certificates shall be eligible only if they submit either the equivalence or the receipt showing that they have applied for the equivalence of their diplomas or certificates. The order granting equivalence and the receipt are issued by the Ministry of Higher Education. The final admission of such candidates shall be confirmed only on presentation of the text granting them equivalence, within the deadline set by the competent authorities.
Exam Timetable
The syllabuses of the written examination are the same as for the GCE A/L and Baccalauréat, and the papers/subjects are specified below.
- The examination syllabi are at the level of the GCE A/L and Baccalauréat of each specialty;
- The scores of each paper range from zero (00) to twenty (20) and attribute the aforementioned coefficient. The elimination score will be five on twenty (05/20) and below;
- A Jury shall prepare the list of successful candidates per series and by order of merit and submit it, in strict confidence, to the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education for publication.
- Successful candidates shall not, under any circumstances, defer their registration to the following academic year.
The final results are published by the Minister of Higher Education. Candidates who are fraudulently admitted without fulfilling the stipulated conditions of basic entry certificate, grade or age limit, shall be subject to instant dismissal at any moment without any formal procedure.
