The MEAL Assistant will work closely with program, protection, and management teams to support the implementation of activities  while adhering to humanitarian and organizational standards. Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the National MEAL Officer, and with the direct supervision of the Senior Monitoring Evaluation Accountability Learning (MEAL) Associate, the incumbent will be responsible and accountable for supporting monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning activities.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Degree/Certificate with fouryears of professional work experience; or
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Monitoring and Evaluation Sciences, Statistics, International Relations, Project Management,
  • International Development Studies, Social Science, Humanitarian Affairs, International Relations, Political Science,
  • Education, Law and International Relations or related field from an accredited academic institution with at least two years of relevant work experience.

Skills

  • Excellent knowledge on collect, data presentation and visualization skills.
  • Proficiency in data management software (Excel, KoboToolbox, ODK, or similar platforms).
  • Ability to support data cleaning, analysis, and reporting with attention to detail.
  • Strong knowledge of MEAL concepts and tools (indicators, logframes, accountability mechanisms, lessons learned documentation).
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills.
  • Skills in facilitating training sessions and providing technical support to field teams.
  • Capacity to organize and document feedback and complaints mechanisms (suggestion boxes, hotlines, FGDs).

Experience

  • ​​Two years of relevant professional experience in this specific field.
  • Experience in supporting all aspects of project management and familiarity with international standards and EU regulations is advantageous, preferably within the United Nations or within the international humanitarian field.
  • Familiarity with data collection tools, survey methodologies, and participatory monitoring approaches.
  • Former experience in projects reporting is an asset.​
  • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, and other regional, national, and international institutions.
  • Experience working with migrants, refugees, or vulnerable communities is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in field monitoring missions, including post-reintegration visits, and document beneficiaries’ progress.
  • Assist in routine data entry and preliminary verification of project data,  verifying records are complete and consistent, carrying out basic cleaning tasks, and reporting any discrepancies to the Senior MEAL Associate for further reviewSupport the preparation of interim and final MEAL reports and the , systematic inclusion of disaggregated data (age, gender, vulnerability) as .
  • Assist in organizing surveys and assessments to measure satisfaction and impact among migrants and host communities.
  • Support the documentation of MEAL activities by compiling good practices, challenges, and lessons learned, and keeping records.
  • Provide administrative support for the coordination with local partners to harmonize monitoring approaches and data collection methodologies.
  • Support program teams in updating and using MEAL tools to monitor reintegration, direct assistance, and awareness activities,  verifying the accuracy of beneficiary data.
  • Assist in the regular collection of data related to migrant assistance and community-based initiatives.
  • Provide support in the implementation of beneficiary feedback processes by assisting in data collection, recording feedback received, and ensuring timely transmission of information to the Senior MEAL Associate for further actions.
  • Support the management of complaints and suggestions (suggestion boxes, hotlines, focus group discussions).
  • Support proper handling and follow-up of feedback and complaints, including maintaining updated databases and tracking timely responses in line with established standards.
  • Support the Senior MEAL Associate in tracking the implementation of recommendations from evaluations and audits.
  • Assist in the logistical and technical preparation of MEAL activities, including external evaluations and monitoring missions.
    Perform any other related duties as assigned.

  • IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish.
