UNICEF needs International Consultant on WASH Facility Improvement Tool, Yaounde, Cameroon

Provide technical guidance to the UNICEF Cameroon Country Office in supporting government counterparts to strengthen national Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in Health Care Facilities (WiH) monitoring systems, including the integration and use of WASH FIT indicators, data collection and reporting tools, quality assurance mechanisms, and evidence-based monitoring processes to improve service delivery and accountability.

The Consultant will complete the following tasks: Between 1 – 30 August 2026,:

WASH FIT training:

  • Development / adaptation of the Cameroon WASH FIT training package in collaboration with the UNICEF Cameroon country office and the Ministry of Public Health.
  • Strengthen capacity of the above-mentioned institution in WASH FIT.
  • Implementation of a WASH FIT training-of-trainers in collaboration with the above-mentioned institutions.

WASH FIT monitoring and KM:

  • Maintain the 8 steps tracker on UNICEF’s SharePoint to monitor WASH FIT implementation in Cameroon.
  • Analyse tracker’s results to identify weaknesses and support Cameroon CO to develop plans/roadmaps to address these weaknesses.

Provide guidance to Cameroon CO for supporting government counterparts in strengthening national WiH monitoring systems.

Minimum requirements:

Education: Advanced university degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Engineering, Social Sciences, Statistics, Economics, or related field

Work Experience: 10 years of experience in wash or health fields.

  • At least two years of experience working on WASH in healthcare facilities.
  • Prior experience using the WASH FIT tool.
  • Significant Prior experience facilitating trainings or workshops.
  • Prior experience working for the United Nations is an added advantage.

Language Requirements: Must be fluent in French.

  • A technical proposal: A detailed methodological note for carrying out this assignment, with an indicative timetable for the various stages of the consultation and the products or deliverables expected, together with the related costs.
