Task description:
Under the supervision of the Education Specialist, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following responsibilities:
Programme Coordination and Implementation
- Monitor the implementation of activities in existing and newly established music nuclei and learning spaces.
Inclusion and Protective Learning Environments. - Support awareness and sensitization activities promoting child rights and safeguarding principles.
Capacity Building and PSEA. - Promote the inclusion and participation of vulnerable and marginalized children, including out-of-school children, children with disabilities, internally displaced and refugee children, and teenage mothers.
- Support activities aimed at strengthening safe, inclusive, and protective learning environments for children and adolescents.
- Coordinate and support the implementation and scale-up of the “I Am Music” programme across targeted intervention areas.
- Ensure alignment of programme activities with the strategic priorities and objectives of the Education Section.
- Support coordination with implementing partners, schools, youth centres, government counterparts, and community stakeholders.
- Contribute to the integration of child protection, psychosocial support, gender-sensitive approaches, and inclusion within programme activities.
- Support the organization and facilitation of training sessions for teachers, facilitators, and youth centre staff on:
- Child Rights.
- Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA).
- El Sistema-inspired methodologies.
- Music pedagogy.
- Inclusive and protective learning approaches.
- Support dissemination and adherence to UNICEF safeguarding and PSEA standards among partners and programme stakeholders.
- Contribute to strengthening accountability and safe reporting mechanisms within programme implementation.
- Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting.
- Support engagement with communities, youth networks, and local leaders to strengthen programme ownership and participation.
- Participate in coordination meetings, workshops, and technical discussions related to education and child protection.
- Contribute to strengthening collaboration with government counterparts and implementing partners.
- Perform any other related tasks assigned by the supervisor in support of the Education Programme.
- Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.
- Conduct regular monitoring visits to assess programme implementation, identify challenges, and support quality assurance.
- Support data collection, analysis, and reporting related to programme activities and results.
- Contribute to the preparation of progress reports, briefing notes, presentations, success stories, and lessons learned.
- Support documentation of innovative practices and programme achievements.
- Partnerships and Community Engagement.
Eligibility criteria
- Age: 18 – 80
- Required experience: 3 years
- Nationality: Candidate must be a national, legal resident or hold refugee status in the country of assignment.
Languages:
- French, Level: Fluent, Required
- English, Level: Working knowledge, Required.
Required education level:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Psychology, Arts Education, International Development, Project Management, or related fields.
Skills and experience:
- Demonstrated interest and/or experience (up to 3 years) in music, partner management, coordination, protective learning environment and PSEA.
- Motivated to contribute towards peace and development and to serve others.
- Good interpersonal, networking and communication skills.
- Willingness to contribute and work as part of a team.
- Flexible and open to learning and new experiences.
- Respect for diversity and adaptability to other cultures, environments and living conditions.
- Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded.
- Computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Kobo toolbox, canvas, social media, and others).
