1. Master Kong Dream Scholarship Program

2. MEXT Scholarship & Short-term Programs
This is a scholarship offered by the “Monbukagasho” or the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT). There are a few different types of MEXT scholarship and here we will be mainly explaining the MEXT scholarship of “Embassy Recommendation”. Generally, MEXT students of Embassy Recommendation will enter the university as non-degree research students.
Recruitment for the MEXT scholarship (Embassy Recommendation) is held at overseas Japanese embassies or consulates. Application procedures and deadlines differ per country.

Waseda University admission requirements for international students
- Applicants must meet the language requirement each school has set. We currently don’t accept the new scoring system; My Best Scores introduced by ETS.
- Admission is either in April (Spring) or September (Fall) with your choice of duration of study, one-semester or one-year. However, some schools(majors) set particular semester of admission/duration of study. Please refer to “Note” for each school’s policy.
- Once enrolled in Waseda University, the student is expected to complete the given exchange period. Extension or shortening of period is not permitted.
- Applicants must be enrolled at Waseda’s partner university at the time of application, and continuously enrolled until the end of the exchange study period at Waseda University.
- Applicants must meet the GPA requirement on a 4.0 scale. In case your university does not adopt a GPA 4.0 scale, the applicant’s transcript(s) and grading system chart will be taken into consideration upon re-calculating the GPA on a 4.0 scale, and meeting the required GPA of the desired school(major) of Waseda. On a 100-point scale, applicants roughly need to score 75 to satisfy the GPA 3.0.
- Undergraduate applicants, except those who apply to SILS, must have completed at least 12 years of school education or equivalent in a country other than Japan. SILS applicant must have completed most of the secondary education (6 years) in a non-Japanese educational system.
- Graduate applicants must have completed 16 years of school education or equivalent in a country other than Japan.
- At the time of application, applicants must have completed at least one semester at home university.
