What Time Are AP Scores Getting Released? | When Do AP Scores Come Out. Depending on your test type, your AP scores may be delivered between April for digital scores to July. AP Exams are scored on a scale of 1 to 5. Many U.S. colleges grant credit and/or advanced placement (that means they let you skip the equivalent course once you get to college) for scores of 3 and above.
For most AP Exams, your score is a weighted combination of your scores on the 2 sections, multiple-choice and free-response. Some AP courses have assessments that include other scored components.
How are AP Exams scored?
After the AP Exams are administered, schools return all paper AP Exam materials to the AP Program. Then:

These composite scores are then translated into the 5-point scale using statistical processes designed to ensure that, for example, a 3 this year reflects the same level of achievement as a 3 last year.

A downloadable version of your score report is available in PDF format on the college board website once you login in to view your scores. Note that this is an unofficial copy of your score report intended for your own records and can’t be used to send to colleges or universities for granting credit or placement.
How to get early AP scores?
It’s not possible to get your AP scores at an early date before that official release date, unless the AP scores are released in your state at an early date than in other states, then you can view your AP scores before other states. Unfortunately, there is no ethical way to get your AP score earlier than the official release dates.
Instructions to View Your AP Scores
- Check that you can sign into your College Board account. Make sure that you remember your login credentials by signing in before scores are released in July. This is the same account that you use to access My AP or other College Board resources.
- Make sure we have your current email address. If you’ve changed your email address, update it in your account.
- Don’t create a new account if you already have one. Duplicate accounts can cause delays in getting your AP scores. Sign in with the same account you used to register and enroll in AP class sections.
What is an AP number and where can I find it?
If you last took AP Exams in 2019 or earlier, you received an AP number—a unique eight-digit number that served as your official identifier for the exam administration. We used the AP number to associate you with your scores. You received a different AP number in your AP Student Pack each year you took AP Exams. Some of my exams are missing from my score report. What do I do?
If you don’t see all the exams you took this year listed in your score report, please note that some scores may take longer to process because of later testing dates or other circumstances. Your score will be emailed to you when is added to your score report.
Does my score report show my scores for all the AP Exams I’ve ever taken?
Your score report will include all your AP scores from any exams you’ve taken in the past. It also includes all AP awards and recognitions you may have earned in the past. If your most recent AP Exam was over four years ago, your AP scores are no longer viewable from the online score reporting system.
How do I request a rescore of the multiple-choice section of my exam?
For a fee of $30 per exam, you may request to have your multiple-choice answer sheet rescored by hand. Fill out the Multiple-Choice Rescore Service Form and return it by October 31 of the year you took the AP Exam(s). Rescores may result in higher or lower scores than first reported, or no change at all. Results are final and will automatically be re-reported to all designated score recipients if there was a change. You will receive a letter confirming the results of the rescore 6–8 weeks after your request is received. You can’t appeal or reorder a multiple-choice rescore. The free-response section is not rescored.
