FIU Scholarships Application Deadline
Last day to accept scholarships and submit FIU Scholarships 2024 application is 1st of May. Some of these FIU Scholarships are only available to students in certain classes (graduates or students), while others are open.
Application Requirements for FIU Scholarships

SGA Scholarship for Medical Students:
This award is open to medical students at the FIU. All applicants must have an average of 3.3 degrees, study full time at university and have an excellent reputation at the university.
NACME Engineering Scholarship:
This scholarship is funded by the National Council of Action for Minorities in Engineering. The purpose of this FIU Scholarship is to increase the number of qualified minority students entering the field of engineering. To be eligible, students must have at least 2.9 points on average. This FIU Scholarship will only cover students who attend the FIU on a full-time basis. Applicants must have an engineering degree and show a financial need, as stated in their application to FAFSA.

ISSS International Student Scholarship
The FIU Office of International Student and Scholar Services is pleased to announce the ISSS International Student Scholarship for current international undergraduate students at Florida International University.
Awarded to undergraduate international students who meet all the eligibility criteria below:
- Applicants must have at least two semesters left to complete their program at the time scholarship is awarded (Students graduating in Fall 2022 would not be eligible).
- Applicants must be current FIU international undergraduate students in a degree-seeking program.
- Applicants must have attended FIU for a minimum of two consecutive semesters at the time of application.
- Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average 3.0 or higher.
- Applicants must be a non-immigrant F-1 student visa holder in good immigration standing.
FIU Scholarship Application for ISSS International Student Scholarship
To apply, complete the online ISSS International Student Scholarship application, and include/upload the following documents:
- A copy of your I-20.
- Two (2) letters of recommendation- one from a FIU faculty member, one from an FIU employee (mentor, advisor, employer)
One of the following:- A 500-600 word essay on the topic of “What it means to be an international student at Florida International University”
- or A 3-4 minute video that on the topic of “What it means to be an international student at Florida International University”.
FIU First Year Merit Scholarships
Merit scholarships are very competitive. Students must prove a record of high academic achievement to qualify to apply. The following are the top merit scholarships for incoming first year students:
- National Merit – Students who qualify for Presidential/Ambassador scholarships and are selected as a finalist. Awards full tuition, fees, room and board, up to the cost of attendance as published by the Office of Student Financials.
- Presidential Premier – Students with 4.0 GPA and 1370 SAT / or 30 ACT. Awards 100% tuition and fees plus a book stipend.
- Ambassador Premier – Students with 4.0 GPA and 1280 SAT or 27 ACT. Awards 75% tuition and fees plus a book stipend.
- FIU Collegeboard National Recognition Programs (African American, Hispanic, Indigenous, or Rural and Small Town Recognition) – Students who qualify for Presidential/Ambassador scholarships and are selected as a finalist. Awards full tuition, stipend for books and $1000 stipend towards meal plan each semester.
