University of Dschang accupies the top position among all the Universities in Cameroun
The Webometrics Ranking Web of World Universities, or in January 2015 has just been published by the Cybermetrics Lab (Spanish National Council for Research). In the world rankings, the University of Dschang in first place in Cameroon, in the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC) and the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS).
The performance of the world’s universities are based on their online presence and their impact analyzed by search engines. Visibility, presence and excellence on the Web are used as indicators to measure the overall performance of the university. This classification is performed twice (January and July) annually since 2004. The aim is to promote the presence of universities on the web – which contributes to quality assurance – support Open Access initiatives to transfer knowledge built at the University to society. Furthermore, the presence of a university on the internet is by CSIS, a reflection of its “investment in education, the results of its research, its international prestige and its links with its community and economic sectors and Industrial “.
Following this classification, the University of Dschang occupies the 5339th position on 25 000 universities in the world. A ranking dominated by North American universities which led throne Harvard University. On the African continent, the University of Dschang occupies the 112th place out of 1314 universities.
This African ranking is dominated by South African universities, holders of exclusive top 5. In Africa, south of the Sahara, Dschang University occupies the 63rd position in 739 institutions. This further classification is dominated by Anglo-Saxon universities. As for universities in French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa, the University of Dschang is ranked 5th, just behind the University Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar, of Abomey in Benin, Ouagadougou and IE International Institute for Water and Environmental Engineering) in Burkina Faso.
