GREAT Scholarships : How to apply for great Scholarship. This year, in partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, the University of Edinburgh will be offering four scholarships for students, across China, India, Mexico and Turkey applying for an eligible one-year postgraduate Masters programme for the 2026-2027 academic session.
GREAT Scholarships, launched by the British Council’s Study UK campaign together with a number of other UK universities, supports students from 18 countries to access world-class UK higher education opportunities. The Study UK campaign is offering 150 scholarships from UK universities to students across 18 countries around the world.
The scholarship programme offers financial support of a minimum of £10,000 to students pursuing one year postgraduate study in the UK. Students can apply for courses in a range of subjects, at the 41 institutions across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Criteria
The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit. Candidates must have, or expect to obtain, the overseas equivalent of a UK first-class honours degree.
Eligibility For GREAT Scholarships
At the University of Edinburgh, the Scholarships will be awarded to nationals and residents of China, India, Mexico and Turkey who are accepted for admission on a full-time basis for an eligible one-year on campus postgraduate Masters programme of study. How can I get a fully funded scholarship in UK?
You can visit the UKCISA (UK Council for International Student Affairs) website to find out if you are eligible for a scholarship. Many institutions also offer their own financial assistance, and you can check their websites for more information. Lots of universities offer fully-funded postgraduate studentships.

- The deadline to apply for a GREAT Scholarship varies according to each institution. For details on individual institutions’ deadlines, please see the institution page.
- Successful scholars will be informed by individual universities on the result of their applications.
- Scholarship funding will be issued to successful scholars by individual universities after registration.
Further Information
Successful candidates must give written consent to be contacted by the British Council for pre-departure briefings, programme reporting, evaluation and promotion for future programmes after issuance of the Scholarships and further promote GREAT Scholarships through their own channels. Promotional material must be provided to the British Council for approval prior to publication.
