To announce the competitive entrance examination for admission into the 1st year of the Higher Commercial Studies (DESC) Cycle of the Advanced School of Economics and Commerce (ESSEC) of the University of Douala and in IFTIC-SUP, a Private Higher Education, Institute authorized to offer the same training within the framework of the academic year for the 2024/2025 academic year. Mindful of Order n°24/ 00056/MINESUP/SG/DAUQ/SDEAC /SE of 14 February 2024 to fix the calendar of the competitive examinations into the Cameroon State Universities, for the 2024/2025 academic year; On the proposal of the Rector of the University of Douala.
DECIDES AS FOLLOWS:
Article 1:
A competitive entrance examination for the admission of four Hundred (400) students into the first year of the Higher Commercial Studies (DESC) Cycle of the Advanced School of Economics and Commerce (ESSEC) of the University of Douala and in IFTIC-SUP, a Private Higher Education, Institute for the 2024/2025 academic year is hereby launched: ESSEC Douala Concours. kamerpower.com
Article 2:
The examination is open to candidates of both sexes, holders of Baccalauréat (A, B, C, D, TI or G) or GCE Advanced Level with Mathematics and/or Economies and Management related subjects. The training is full-time (day classes) and is offered exclusively to non workers.
Article 3:
Candidate’s application files include the following:
- A registration form (obtainable from the Admissions Office of ESSEC, or the Department of Higher Education Development, Ministry of Higher Education, Yaounde) www.essec-douala.cm/concours2024.
- a hand-written application bearing a 1000 CFA Francs fiscal stamp.
- a certified true copy of birth certificate, not older than three (3) months.
- a certified true copy of Baccalauréat or GCE A/L; ESSEC Douala Concours:
- a certified true copy of the Terminale or Upper 6th report cards.
- a medical certificate not older than three (3) months, issued by a state registered medical practitioner.
- a certificate of non-conviction issued not earlier than three (3) months ago.
- two (2) recent passport size photographs of the candidate. kamerpower.com
- An authorisation to register for the competitive examination issued by the Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reform, or the competent Administrative authority, for civil servants and state agents.
- the receipt issued upon payment of twenty thousand (20,000) CFA Francs on the following account: École Supérieure des Sciences Économiques et Commerciales (ESSEC), n° 14004000005; United Bank for Africa (UBA) Cameroon, University of Douala Branch.
- an A-4 size self-addressed envelope bearing a 400 CFA Francs postage stamp.
Article 4:
(1) Once the above file has been constituted, the admission diploma (or second term transcript), the certified photocopy of the birth certificate, a passport size pboto and tbe payment receipt must be scanned in color to be deposited on the online registration platfonn (www.essec-douala.cm/concours2024) after having properly filled ail the requested information, no later than 08 September 2024 at midnight.
(2) Only those candidates who will have fulfiUed this online registration of their application shall be authorized to sit for the examination. This requirement also applies to foreign CEMAC candidates and aIl applicants must note that access to this online registration will no longer be possible after July 21, 2024.
(3) The complete hard copy file should be deposited at the admission office of ESSEC or sent to ESSEC postal address (BP: 1931 Douala – Cameroun), no later than Monday, September 08 2024, trusting the post office stamp.

Article 5:
Only those candidates with complete application files shall be authorised to sit for the examination. They should bring along their national identity card.
DATE OF EXAMINATION:
(1) The competition will take place on Tuesday, September 14, 2024, starting at 8 am sharp, potentially in the following examination centers: Douala (ESSEC Campus); Yaoundé; Bafoussam; Garoua; Ngaoundere; Bertoua, Ebolowa; Bamenda; Buea; Maroua. To access the examinations rooms, the national identity card will be required to the candidates.
(2) Applicants from centers that have collected less than 100 applications may be grouped together in a nearby center. The information relating to this, as well as the examination location, will be indicated on the ESSEC website, one week at the latest before the examination runs.
Article 6: STRUCTURE OF THE EXAMINATION:
For Cameroonians and non CEMAC nationality candidates, the competitive entrance examination has only one part, a written examination representing 100% of the final mark. Subjects will be available in French and English and it is up to candidates to choose any of both languages.
Article 7:
The written examination comprises the following:
Mathematics
General Mathematics (Terminale/Upper 6th science programme).
Special Mathematics : Probability or financial Mathematics (Upper 6th science / « Terminales scientifiques» or G programme).
Duration : Three (3) hours.
Economie Essay: an essay on an economie subject to test the candidate’s interest in national and international economic problems as well as recent economic history or Geography.
Duration : Three (3) hours
General knowledge : a two- hour paper to test the candidate’s level of general knowledge on contemporary major problems in Cameroon and Africa. kamerpower.com
Article 8: With respect to sorne communitarian agreements, 20% of the places opened to Cameroonians and non CEMAC nationality candidates are granted on title to foreign candidates who are nationals of the CEMAC zone. These places shall be shared among these countries, based on the criterion of merit, in proportion of the number of candidates originating from each of them.
Article 9:
The Rector of the University of Douala, the Director of the Department of University Accreditation and Quality, and the Director of ESSEC, shall be responsible, each in his own sphere, for the implementation of this decision which shall be registered and published wherever necessary.
