African Union Kwame Nkrumah Scientific Awards: Professor Kofane Timoléon Crépin from Cameroon & Professor Salim S. Abdool Karim from South Africa the winners
Professor Kofane Timoleon Crepin, 2015 winner of the (AU) African Union Kwame Nkrumah Scientific Awards research in Basic Sciences, Technology and Innovation was received in Yaounde – Cameroon by the Minister of Higher Education and the University community.
Through his ( Professor Kofane Timoleon Crepin ) research on issues related to the transport of large volumes of data via optical fiber, Professor Kofane Timoléon Crépin managed to hoist the name of a Cameroonian researcher in the history of this award ( African Union Kwame Nkrumah Scientific Awards ), held for a half decades by Southern African researchers. He was distinguished in the field of “Basic Sciences, Technology and Innovation”.
Professor Kofane Timoleon Crispin is in use at the University of Yaounde I, where he officiates as head of the Department of Physics and Head of Laboratory of Mechanics, Materials and Structure of the Faculty of Sciences of that university.
African Union Kwame Nkrumah Scientific Awards Research was awarded this year to Pr. Kofane Timoleon Crepin but also to the South African Professor Salim Abdool Karim S., in the field of Earth sciences and life.
The two researchers ( Professor Kofane Timoléon Crépin from Cameroon & Professor Salim S. Abdool Karim from South Africa ) each received a budget of $100,000.
Among the elements that played in its favor: The presentation of three hundred scientific publications instead of twenty needed to win the prize. A lot of work that earned him the second round of voting, 50 votes out of 25 African countries represented.
This scientific prize ( African Union Kwame Nkrumah Scientific Awards ) is offered each year by the African Union to two researchers, one in the field of basic science, technology and innovation and the other in the Earth sciences and life.
